You have already made your 2021 goal list? The new year starts tomorrow and positive expectations are in the air. Plans, desires and goals surround our heads. But why does it seem so difficult every year to achieve them?

Daily activities are primarily responsible for the neglect with which we conduct our dreams. Therefore, it is important to start with realistic goals and changing habits.

To start the new year well, full of health and quality of life, it is important to review attitudes. Check out some tips that can help you start the period in a healthy way and with more happiness.

1. Make a list of goals

It is not enough to simply write “start the gym” and “go on a diet”. It is important to select some specific goals that provide personal and professional well-being and write them down in more detail.

Thus, make a list of your priorities and set deadlines. They can be short, medium and long term goals. This way, you can plan the step by step you need to fulfill each objective.

2. Get a check-up and manage stress

Make your annual exams early in the year. So, you already start with health and see if you need to adapt something about food, medication or lifestyle. Also, don't forget to set aside more time to rest and cool the head of the running routine. Relaxing is necessary and good for your whole body!

To do this, start with small daily changes. You can start practicing meditation five minutes a day or disconnecting from your cell phone. One idea is to limit smartphone use to, for example, ten minutes in the morning. Other tips is to put plants and flowers at home, as they help to improve the feeling of well-being.

3. Start a new exercise

The lack of motivation and discipline can hinder the practice of physical activity on a regular basis. So it’s important seek an exercise that gives you pleasure and that it becomes a habit. A daily walk is a good start.

Set possible goals and don't just focus on losing weight. In a short time, the peak and the disposition increase and the well-being of keeping the body active becomes more and more apparent.

Today, there are several short exercises of approximately 30 minutes that you can easily include in your day. In addition, the practice of exercises can be done indoors, free of charge, through videos of the Youtube or fitness apps. There are several that teach drills or dances. But remember to do a physical assessment beforehand to see if your body has any specific limitations or needs.

4. Change your feed

Write down what you ate for 15 days. Did you notice that you are consuming a lot of sugar, fat and processed foods? The time has come to change. Maintaining a healthy diet can prevent diseases and improve your mood.

So try to improve your eating habits. But it is no use trying to make diets impossible to fulfill. At the place, seek food re-education. Including more vegetables and fruits is a good first step. Then start cutting the sweets and fried foods. It is important to make an assessment with a nutritionist who can guide you in a personalized way.

Besides, remember to hydrate yourself well during the year. Drinking water helps to regulate body temperature and organ function, in addition to eliminating toxins. The minimum recommendation is 2 liters per day.

5. Find new hobbies

Lack of time is the biggest excuse for not achieving our goals. But we all need moments to relax, as this helps to reduce stress, is good for the physical, for mental health and still makes us more relaxed to continue with work and study routines.

Therefore, choose at least one new hobby to dedicate yourself throughout this year. It could be painting, learning a new instrument or writing a blog, for example. Have you been thinking about taking a new course for a long time? Enjoy and do it! Learning something new constantly is very good for the brain.

6. Organize finances and start saving

To have a more peaceful year, it is essential to organize your finances. First, do a financial cleaning. Gather bank statements, card bills and bills you have to pay every month. Eliminate all unnecessary expenses like cable TV that you don’t even watch anymore or that coffee you buy every day.

Then, set a monthly spending cap and set up a spending spreadsheet. After organizing your finances, you can start investing the money you save.

These are some of our suggestions for you to have a new year with a healthier body and mind. To achieve the goals, leave them written in a visible place, such as the refrigerator or the nightstand. Also, set a day a month to review your goals.

Happy New Year and success in achieving your dreams!
