Cough

What causes cough?

Cough has different causes. It may result from a respiratory infection such as flu or cold, may be a symptom of allergy ou asthma, irritation caused by external factors (pollution, tobacco smoke), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease or gastroesophageal reflux (a condition in which gastric acids rise through the esophagus, which can irritate the respiratory tract).

As a rule, coughing gets worse at night, especially when you lie down.
