Homocysteine Modulators 60 Capsules from Solgar
Trimethylglycine, Vitamin B6 + B12 and Folic Acid
Research has shown that high levels of homocysteine in the blood can significantly increase the risk of cardiovascular disease.
In normal individuals, homocysteine is converted to methionine. This capacity is dependent on the existence of certain nutrients in sufficient quantities.
Trimethylglycine (TMG) - also known as anhydrous betaine, provides methyl groups for the conversion of homocysteine to methionine; decreases cholesterol and total blood lipids.
Vitamin B6 - necessary for the conversion of homocysteine to cystathione; low levels of this vitamin increase the risk of heart attack by 5 times. Deficiencies in the conversion of vitamin B6 to its active form, pyridoxal-5-phosphate, may also occur.
Vitamin B12 and folates - deficiencies in these nutrients lead to increased levels of homocysteine; facilitates the conversion of homocysteine to methionine.
In general, the Homocysteine Modulators Food Supplement can be advised as an adjunct in preventing the development of cardiovascular diseases.
