They are from Egypt and Central Asia. Brown flaxseed has a more intense flavor and denser bark than golden flaxseed seeds. They are rich in fiber, unsaturated fats and a source of protein.

Flax seeds contain a large amount of mucilage and pectin, which gives them emollient and laxative properties, as well as mineral salts and lipids of high biological value, beneficial for cholesterol control.
