Sena, commonly known as Sene-da-India, Sene-de-Tinnevelly or Sene-de-cartum (Cassia angustifolia Wahl.) And belongs to the Cesalpináceas family.
It is a perennial substrate, native to Arabia and East Africa, widely cultivated in India.
The parts used are the leaflets (leaves) and follicles (fruits).
Indicated in situations of:

Contraindications |
Intestinal occlusion. Inflammatory bowel diseases. Acute appendicitis. Acute cystitis. Pregnancy, lactation and children under the age of 6 years. During menstruation. It should not be used concomitantly with cardiotonics or the contraceptive pill because of the risk of decreasing its absorption at the intestinal level. Irritating effect in cases of hemorrhoids. |

Precautions |
Senna should only be used for short periods of time, never exceeding 2 weeks, as the continued use of senna can lead to the destruction of the intramural nervous plexuses of the colon, producing an atonic large intestine without haustras, with a tubular aspect similar to that of colitis chronic ulcer. |

Intern use: Infusion: Place 4 tablespoons in a container that resists the sudden action of heat. Pour 1 liter of boiling water over the plant, keeping the container closed for 5 to 10 minutes and then filter. Take 3 to 4 cups a day outside meals. |
