Cascara Sagrada is a medicinal plant widely used to treat constipation, due to its laxative effect that promotes the evacuation of feces.
Cascara extract is metabolized by intestinal bacteria, producing substances that stimulate bowel movement, facilitating evacuation.
Cascara Sagrada can act in several aspects, namely:
- Chronic constipation;
- Biliary lithiasis;
- Diabetes;
- Infection in the spleen;
- Hemorrhoids;
- Chronic cholecystitis;
- Biliary dyskinesia;
- Intestinal meteorism;
- Help with menstrual flow;
- Fluid retention (diuretic).
The dried husk of Cascara Sagrada is used to make teas and infusions.
Preparation: put 25 g of shells in a pan with 1 liter of boiling water, allowing to stand for 10 minutes. Drink 1 to 2 cups a day.
